Eubank’s Speeding Trial Draws to a Close
Today, local Law Firm, Beech Jones de Lloyd who represent former world champion Chris Eubank, achieved a great result – bringing to a close a series of ‘Driving’ charges levelled against the boxer dating back to 2007.
Following the conviction and subsequent disqualification of Mr Eubank on charges of speeding and of having no insurance, Beech Jones de Lloyd, the Wirral based firm, was instructed in September 08 when Mr. Eubank was charged with driving without insurance and driving while disqualified, a fact of which he was unaware. Following a review of evidence submitted by Beech Jones de Lloyd to the Crown Prosecution Service, in November the Prosecution discontinued the proceedings on both charges but re-charged Mr. Eubank with original charges from 2007.
At the trial today, following submissions made by Beech Jones de Lloyd, the Prosecution discontinued the charge of ‘no insurance’ and the client, following advice from Beech Jones, pleaded guilty to the speeding offense.
Faced with a single speeding offence, the Magistrates exercised their discretion, disqualifying Mr. Eubank for 48 days but not endorsing any penalty points so that in August he will have a ‘clean’ licence again.
Representing Mr. Eubank, Senior Partner at Beech Jones de Lloyd, Paul Dumbleton , commented “We are very pleased with the outcome for our client. As a firm we do what it takes to get the right result for our clients. In this particular case, which had a long and complex history, the best possible outcome was achieved.”
Eubank, who made a point of thanking the Magistrates after the case was closed today, commented “I have learnt an immensely valuable lesson from this case and it has made me, more than ever, extremely aware of a driver’s responsibility. I am very grateful to Beech Jones de Lloyd for their representation, support and guidance throughout this case and I am very happy with the result.”
